What Information We Collect, How We Collect It, and Why

Much of what you likely consider personal information is collected directly from you when you:

• Create an account or purchase any of our Services (for example, your name, email, age, and billing information);
• Use features of the app, such as chatting with Mentor or using our tools (for example, the messages, photos, and content you submit);
• Request assistance from our support team;
• Complete contact forms or request newsletters or other information from us; or
• Participate in contests, surveys, or other activities we promote that might require information about you.

We also collect additional information when delivering our Services to ensure necessary and optimal performance.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our websites and mobile applications use cookies and similar technologies to understand how you use and interact with our Services and to collect analytics. This data is collected automatically and may include:

• Metadata, log files, cookie/device IDs, page load time, server response time, and approximate location information used to measure performance and improve our systems.
• Your interactions with features, content, and links (including those of third parties, such as social media plugins) within the Services.
• Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and settings, date and time of usage, language preferences, cookie data, and device information, including device type, operating system, application IDs, unique device identifiers, and error data.

Advertising and Tracking Technologies

We and our partners use software development kits (SDKs), pixels, cookies, and device identifiers to collect in-app events and usage data. This information is forwarded to advertising and analytics partners, including, but not limited to, Meta, ByteDance, Appstack, Superwall, and PostHog, to operate and improve the Service, to measure the effectiveness of our marketing, and to deliver and measure advertising on their platforms and elsewhere.

On iOS, where required, we will request your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before tracking you across apps and websites owned by other companies. You can change this permission at any time in your device settings.

Supplemented Data

We may receive additional data about you from publicly available databases or third parties, which may be combined with information we already have to update, expand, and analyze the accuracy of our records and to provide products and services that may interest you. If you provide us with personal information about others, or others provide us with your information, we will only use that information for the specific reason it was provided.

How We Utilize Information

We believe in minimizing data collection and limiting its use to only that which we have been given permission for, is necessary to deliver the Services you interact with, or is required or permitted for legal compliance or other lawful purposes. We use the information we collect to:

• Improve and optimize the operation and performance of our Services.
• Diagnose problems and identify security or compliance risks, errors, or needed enhancements.
• Detect and prevent fraud and abuse of our Services and systems.
• Collect aggregate statistics about Service usage.
• Understand and analyze how you use our Services and what is most relevant to you.

Sharing with Trusted Third Parties

We may share your personal information with affiliated companies, trusted third-party service providers, and partners to perform services on our behalf, such as:

• Processing payments
• Advertising, analytics, attribution, and marketing with partners including, but not limited to, Meta, ByteDance, Appstack, Superwall, and PostHog, to measure and improve the Service and to deliver and measure advertising. Depending on your jurisdiction, this may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under applicable privacy laws.
• Conducting contests or surveys
• Communicating with you
• Security risk management and compliance

These third parties (and any permitted subcontractors) are restricted from using or retaining your personal information for any purpose other than as necessary to provide the Services, except as described for our advertising partners above. We will also disclose your information to third parties:

• In the event of a business or asset sale, merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, where your information may be among the transferred assets.
• To government or law enforcement officials, or private parties, if we believe disclosure is necessary to respond to claims and legal processes, protect our rights, or prevent illegal or unethical activities.

AI Features and Your Content

We use information about how you interact with Mentor, including the content you provide, to operate, develop, and improve our features, including AI-powered features. To provide these features, your content may be processed by the service providers that power them (for example, our AI model providers), who are permitted to use it only to provide those services to us.

We do not sell your chats or messages, and we do not share them with third parties to train their own AI models. Our sharing of data with advertising and analytics partners is described above under "Sharing with Trusted Third Parties," and you can exercise your choices as described under "Your Privacy Choices."

Communicating with You

We may contact you directly or through third-party service providers regarding the Services you have signed up for or purchased. Contacts may include:

• Email
• Push notifications
• Text (SMS) messages
• Telephone calls
• Messenger applications

You may opt out of promotional messages by following the instructions in them, adjusting your notification settings, or contacting contact@heymentor.app.

Transfer of Personal Information Abroad

If you use our Services from outside the country where our servers are located, your personal information may be transferred across international borders. Transfers will only occur when necessary for contract performance, with your consent, or with appropriate safeguards in place.

Compliance with Legal, Regulatory, and Law Enforcement Requests

We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials to comply with the law. We will disclose information about you as we believe necessary to respond to claims and legal processes, protect our rights, or prevent illegal activities. When legally permitted, we will take reasonable steps to notify you if required to provide your information as part of legal processes.

How We Secure, Store, and Retain Your Data

We follow generally accepted standards to protect personal information during transmission and once stored, including the use of encryption where appropriate. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services or for legitimate legal or business purposes, including legal or contractual obligations, resolving or enforcing legal rights, and maintaining accurate business records.

How You Can Access, Update, or Delete Your Data

To access or update your information, sign into your account and visit your account settings. To delete your account and associated data, email contact@heymentor.appwith the subject line "delete account" from the email you signed up with, or use the in-app delete option; your account will be deleted within 24 hours. If deletion conflicts with services you have purchased or legal record-keeping, it will be honored to the extent it is no longer necessary.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising, and to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information. To exercise these rights, or to opt out of having your information shared with advertising partners, contact us at contact@heymentor.app. You can also limit device-level tracking through your device settings and adjust the App Tracking Transparency permission on iOS. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

‘Do Not Track’ Notifications

Some browsers allow you to notify websites not to track you with a "Do Not Track" signal. Since there is no consensus on what "Do Not Track" means, we do not currently alter our practices when receiving such signals.

Age Restrictions

Mentor is directed to a general audience and is available to individuals aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may use Mentor only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Where required by law, we limit the ways we use the personal information of users we know to be minors, including for interest-based advertising. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@heymentor.app and we will take steps to delete it.

Non-Discrimination

We do not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. Unless allowed by law, we will not deny goods or services, charge different prices or impose penalties, or provide a different quality of goods or services.

Changes to This Policy

We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be posted here and in other appropriate places. If material changes are made, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.
